CONTEXT
The Challenge
How SLICK repositioned Interstaff as a confident, expert alternative to large consulting and legal firms—then built the digital and production systems to support its next stage of growth.
An established and trusted business with a brand that limited growth.
Interstaff is a well-established Australian migration advisory firm specialising in complex migration requirements for businesses and organisations across a broad spectrum of industries.
By 2025, the business had developed substantial expertise, a strong service reputation and a record of successfully supporting complex workforce requirements—particularly within oil and gas and other primary industries.
Operationally, Interstaff was capable of serving large private- and public-sector organisations. Its team could provide the expertise and sophistication required by Tier 1 clients while remaining more flexible, accessible and cost-effective than the large multidisciplinary consulting and legal firms that traditionally compete for work of that scale.
Its outward brand, however, did not make that capability immediately clear.

Interstaff’s presentation placed it above smaller migration agencies predominantly associated with individual, partner or family visas, but it did not yet carry the confidence or sophistication needed to compete consistently with major professional-services firms.
This created a credibility gap. Interstaff could handle large, complex briefs, but prospective clients could not always recognise that capacity from the brand, website and marketing materials they encountered.
Senior leadership believed this gap was limiting the organisation’s ability to convert its successful work in major industries into broader Tier 1 growth.
“We needed a partner who could translate the intense complexity of migration law into a seamless, reassuring experience for our clients, new and existing.”
Sheila Woods, Managing Director – Interstaff
The answer was not a cosmetic update. Interstaff needed to revisit its strategy, identity and digital presence from the ground up—retaining the established name and core service offering while transforming how the organisation expressed its expertise, value and ambition.
FOUNDATION
Why SLICK?
SLICK’s philosophy and methodology was critical to the success of both the project and our ongoing partnership with Interstaff.
A transformation grounded in business reality.
Interstaff selected SLICK for a collaborative methodology that would begin with understanding the business rather than imposing a predetermined creative solution.
The engagement brought together Interstaff Managing Director Sheila Woods, Director Scott McMahon and Marketing and Communications Specialist Alana Michniewicz with SLICK’s senior strategy and creative leadership.
Through a series of facilitated workshops, SLICK became fluent in Interstaff’s business, the forces shaping its industry and the reasons clients trusted its team with complicated and high-stakes migration challenges.
The work also clarified Interstaff’s opportunity in the market.

The goal was not to imitate a global consulting firm or make Interstaff appear larger for its own sake. It was to establish a more credible and authentic expression of what the business already was: a flexible, highly experienced team capable of resolving complexity without the overhead, protracted timescales or impersonal delivery structures commonly associated with larger competitors.
The resulting transformation was therefore less about changing Interstaff and more about enabling the organisation to become visibly, confidently and consistently what it already embodied operationally.
phase 01
Brand Strategy
Initial project activities that deliver insights and analytics that inform and influence the ways in which SLICK and Interstaff progressed through to an impactful launch.
Becoming more of who Interstaff already was.
SLICK’s strategy established a growth-focused position around Interstaff’s ability to remove barriers, translate complexity and help people and organisations move forward with confidence.
That capability operates across markedly different contexts. At one end of the spectrum, Interstaff supports HR and operational leaders managing complicated workforce requirements for large multinational projects. At the other, its advisers help skilled professionals and families navigate highly personal migration decisions.
The common thread is not the size of the client or visa category. It is Interstaff’s ability to understand complexity, make it comprehensible and create a clear path through it.
SLICK consolidated the strategic work into a suite of practical reports:
- a Brand Insight Report
- a Brand Positioning Report
- Brand Tone of Voice and Messaging Guidelines
- Content Strategy Guidelines for launch and ongoing communications

The content strategy identified the role of the new website, top-of-funnel marketing, the established email newsletter, LinkedIn activity and other launch materials. This gave Interstaff a connected communications plan rather than a brand strategy that existed only as an internal document.
The strategic reporting also provided the foundation for website copy and future content production, helping Interstaff’s team communicate with greater consistency across corporate, informational and customer-facing material.
PHASE 02
Brand Identity
Moving away from generic corporatism, we developed a visual system built on clarity, forward momentum, and trust.
Turning complexity into a visual system.
Interstaff’s previous identity relied on a limited visual language that could not stretch comfortably across the organisation’s expanding communication requirements.
The refreshed identity needed to feel sophisticated enough for a Tier 1 business audience while remaining accessible to individuals navigating complex and often consequential migration decisions.
SLICK retained an important connection to the original brand: a motif in which small squares assembled to create larger forms. Rather than discard that equity, we refined the idea into a simpler and more distinctive system.
At the centre of the new identity is a striking “i” letterform and a dynamic pattern-building device coined the Interstaff node.

The node reflects the organisation’s role in bringing together information, people, requirements and pathways to form a coherent whole. Its ability to connect and build into larger compositions communicates movement, flexibility and the confident navigation of complexity.
The resulting identity is modern and professional without becoming cold or institutional. It can address senior decision-makers in major organisations while remaining clear and welcoming for individual customers.
Most importantly, the identity was designed as a system rather than a collection of isolated applications. Its typography, patterns, hierarchy and layout principles established clear pathways for producing communications across print, digital, environmental and motion formats.
These rules were formalised in a comprehensive brand-guidelines document, giving both SLICK and Interstaff the tools to create new material with confidence and significantly less friction.

Phase 03
User-Experience
We engineered a bespoke CMS architecture and intuitive frontend to serve two distinct user groups: anxious individuals and high-volume corporate HR teams.
Untangling a complex service ecosystem.
As the identity neared completion, SLICK’s digital team began the extensive process of restructuring Interstaff’s website.
The challenge was not simply the volume of existing information. The site needed to serve audiences whose needs, knowledge and reasons for engaging Interstaff varied considerably.
A human-resources leader from a multinational organisation may arrive with a complex workforce challenge involving numerous employees, project deadlines and organisational risks. A skilled professional may be exploring migration to Australia with their family. Other users may be looking for reliable information about a particular visa pathway, policy change or industry issue before they are ready to engage an adviser.
The website therefore needed to fulfil several roles simultaneously:
- Present Interstaff as a credible adviser for complex corporate migration requirements.
- Remain approachable and useful for individuals and families.
- Provide a trusted source of educational content and migration resources.
- Demonstrate sector experience and specialist capability.
- Support discovery and engagement across numerous entry points.
- Operate as an always-available ambassador capable of generating enquiries from industries throughout Australia.
A comprehensive UX consultation identified Interstaff’s key user groups, their likely needs and the pathways required to move them from discovery to relevant information and, ultimately, conversion.
PHASE 04
Information Architecture & User-Interface
Critical attention was given to the development and flow of information throughout the site’s pages, encouraging discovery and building confidence to engage.
Building the structure before designing the surface.
Before visual design began, SLICK created an invested information architecture that organised the website around clear pillars of service, expertise and resources.
This structure kept the digital project aligned with Interstaff’s strategic goals while helping its internal team plan and produce the large volume of new written content required for launch.
The information architecture was supported by the messaging, tone-of-voice and content reports produced during the strategy phase. Interstaff’s team was therefore not being asked to populate a website in isolation; it had an agreed narrative, communication principles and a structured understanding of how content should support different audiences.
Once the architecture was established, SLICK translated the new identity into a distinctly digital experience.

Expressive animation and the Interstaff node brought movement and confidence to the interface, while clear navigation and content hierarchy helped users understand a complicated service environment without being overwhelmed by it.
The website was developed through a modular, block-based system that allowed new pages to be created quickly and consistently. This accelerated production during the initial project and gave the platform the flexibility to evolve after launch as Interstaff introduced new services, resources, insights and campaign content.
Rather than producing a static digital showcase, SLICK created a governed publishing system designed for continued use.
Phase 05
Designing Marketing Material for Launch
Supportive marketing and launch material was developed in the lead-up to the newly designed brand and website launch.
Building the brand and launch in parallel.
As the website project progressed, Interstaff commenced an ongoing SLICK subscription in November 2025.
This allowed launch communications to be developed alongside the website rather than waiting for the complete digital project to conclude. Interstaff could begin raising marketing and production requests through a customised Asana ticket board, while SLICK’s design team worked systematically through the launch backlog.
The initial production program combined Interstaff’s priority requirements with recommendations from SLICK. This ensured that the new identity appeared consistently across the materials customers and stakeholders would encounter first.
A central launch asset was a brand-narrative video explaining the motivation for the transformation, what the change meant for customers and how the new identity represented the next chapter of Interstaff’s development.
The video gave the launch a coherent story. Rather than presenting the refresh as a visual change alone, it connected the new brand to Interstaff’s history, expertise and future direction.
Another major deliverable was the redesign of Interstaff’s established email newsletter, distributed to an audience of more than 10,000 people.
The new EDM introduced a more concise and navigable structure, directing readers to relevant website resources and articles. This allowed the newsletter to operate as part of the wider content ecosystem, increasing the value of material published to the new site rather than treating email as a standalone communication channel.
PHASE 06
Marketing Rollout & Brand Application
For a launch with impact, Interstaff entrusted the team at SLICK to action and recommend a range of marketing assets to be created and delivered that targeted their audiences effectively, without straining their internal teams.
A complete rollout across physical and digital touchpoints.
The launch and ongoing subscription have extended the refreshed brand across a wide range of applications.
SLICK’s work has included:
- Corporate stationery and document templates.
- Social media graphics and campaign material.
- Flyers, reports and promotional communications.
- A substantial printed library of migration resources.
- Newsletter and digital-content assets.
- Signage, large-format artwork and environmental graphics.
- The design and production of Interstaff’s newly branded office fitout.
- Wall graphics, wayfinding and other physical brand applications.
- Ongoing strategic and creative advisory.
- Continued website and content support.

The office environment was a particularly valuable part of the rollout. Signage, wall graphics and wayfinding allowed the new identity to move beyond marketing communications and become part of the everyday experience of Interstaff’s team and visiting clients.
Across every application, the brand guidelines and node system provided a consistent foundation. Formal corporate material, educational resources, social content and large-format graphics could feel related without being repetitive.
ONGOING SUPPORT
Creative Services Delivered at Scale
Through the mechanics of SLICK’s subscription model and dynamic ticket-board, Interstaff is able to treat the design and digital team at SLICK as an extension of their marketing team.
From internal bottleneck to shared creative capacity.
Before SLICK’s engagement, responsibility for producing Interstaff’s marketing material sat primarily with one internal marketing and communications specialist.
That team member brought essential organisational and audience knowledge but had limited access to comprehensive professional-design tools. As demand increased, production became a bottleneck. A backlog developed, and variations in execution made it difficult to maintain a consistently sophisticated presentation across channels.
The subscription partnership was designed to remove that bottleneck without displacing Interstaff’s internal capability.
SLICK’s customised Asana board gave Interstaff a central location for raising, prioritising, reviewing and approving work. The initial backlog could be made visible, organised around launch requirements and worked through systematically by SLICK’s design team.
At the same time, SLICK ran workshops with Interstaff’s team and introduced more capable design tools so appropriate internal production could continue alongside the subscription.
This was an important principle of the partnership: SLICK’s role was to expand Interstaff’s capacity, not create unnecessary dependency.
Interstaff retained the ability to produce suitable day-to-day material internally, supported by clearer guidelines and better tools. SLICK provided the additional strategic, creative and production depth required for higher-volume, higher-impact or more technically demanding work.
TODAY
How We’re Supporting Further Growth
How Interstaff has partnered with SLICK to extend and enhance their capacity to create and launch marketing material cross-channel with speed and efficiency.
An ongoing and impactful production partnership.
Interstaff’s subscription began in November 2025 and remains active as of July 2026.
To date, SLICK has completed 81 subscription tasks, including recurring marketing material, flyers, reports, promotional assets, social media graphics, signage and large-format production.
The typical turnaround for a production-ready subscription asset is approximately two business days, helping Interstaff maintain marketing momentum without returning to the bottlenecks that existed before the engagement.
The subscription is complemented by project-based engagements for larger and more complex deliverables. Throughout 2026, Interstaff has used SLICK for substantial standalone projects in addition to its regular monthly production service.

This creates a flexible model:
- Recurring and responsive creative production is managed through the subscription.
- Larger strategic, digital or technically complex requirements can be commissioned as defined projects.
- Both streams are delivered by a team already familiar with Interstaff’s strategy, brand system, audiences and approval preferences.
Interstaff therefore gains continuity without being restricted to one method of engagement.
RESULTS
Performance, Insights, & Outcomes
Performance information and customer feedback were supplied by Interstaff’s senior leadership. Traffic and conversion figures compare the first six months after launch with Interstaff’s previous typical performance.
Commercial results that return tangible business value.
The transformation has produced substantial early results across digital performance, lead generation and business development.
During the first six months following launch, website traffic reached approximately 200% of its previous typical level, effectively doubling the audience reaching Interstaff’s digital platform.
Conversions increased by approximately 50% over the same period. Interstaff reported that these were not simply higher volumes of general enquiries, but valuable acquisitions aligned with the organisation’s growth objectives.
Senior leaders have also advised that dozens of clients identified the new website as a reason they chose to engage Interstaff.
The most significant proof of the original positioning goal came six months after launch.
Interstaff secured a new Tier 1 client that had previously used one of the major consulting firms identified as a competitor during the project’s original goal-setting workshops. The acquisition occurred less than one year after the engagement began in August 2025.
The new brand cannot be treated as the sole cause of an organisation’s purchasing decision. Interstaff’s expertise, service quality and commercial offer remain fundamental. What the transformation achieved was to ensure that prospective Tier 1 clients could recognise those strengths before the first conversation.
The business now presented with the credibility, clarity and confidence required to enter the consideration set—and successfully convert the kind of opportunity the project had been designed to pursue.
What stood out most was the effort SLICK put into truly understanding our business, our long term direction, and how our brand needed to evolve to support that journey.
We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and are grateful for their continued partnership.
